Ingredients

  • For 4 Gallons (15.14 L)
    • 5.0 lb (2.27 kg) German Pilsner malt
    • 1.5 lb (0.68 kg) German Vienna malt
    • 1.5 lb (0.68 kg) American two-row pale malt
    • 0.5 lb (227 g) flaked what
    • 0.75 oz (21 g) whole Saaz, 4.2% a.a. (60 min)
    • 0.5 oz (14 g) whole Saaz, 4.2% a.a. (20 min)
    • 0.75 oz (21 g) whole Ultra, 5% a.a. (10 min)
    • 0.25 oz (7 g) whole Ultra, 5% a.a. (5 min)
    • 0.5 oz (14 g) whole Saaz, 4.2% a.a (5 min)
    • WLP815 Belgian lager (1 qt starter)
    • 1 tsp Wyeast yeast nutrient

    Specifications

    • Original Gravity: 1.053
    • Final Gravity: 1.014
    • ABV: 5.12%

    Directions

    1. Treat water with 1 g baking soda, 5 g calcium chloride, 4 g Epsom salts, 4 g gypsum and 4 g calcium carbonate. Single infusion mash at 149° F (65° C) for 90 minutes. Ferment 10 days at 53° F (12° C), then lager for 38 days at 35° F (2° C).
    2. Forced CO2 to carbonate (2.5 vol).
